Animation

I’m grew up in Gol, Hallingdal. In 1996 I went to Rochester outside London where I completed a foundation course in art and design. This would lead into an animation study, - BA (hons) in Visual Communication at Edinburgh College of Art. My graduation film ”Do Plastic Ducks dream of Polythene Ponds?” received a number of awards world wide. After a completed education I Edinburgh, I was offered training at Cartwn Cymru and Filmkameratene, before I returned to England and started working for a range of animation studios in London. By working my way through the ranks of this traditional and experienced industry I’ve learned a lot about production lines, creativity and animation techniques.

The summer 2003 I returned to Gol to focus on my own ideas, skills and productions. ”Ridder” is at present the most ambitious project to come out of this. This is a traditionally animated short. Currently I’m in the preproduction stage of a new short, this time made in 3D animation.

The illustation commitions creates a nice contrast to the time consuming animation productions. It is exciting working with different styles and methods. I find great pleasure in the co-operation with the client to gain the image wanted.

I do logos, vector illustrations, designs and more traditional illustrations. Currently I’m working on two childrens books, doing the illustrations in co-operation with the author. Samples from this work will be on this site soon.

An important part of the film production is the storyboard. Here the film is shown scene by scene and the action onfolds in a rough outline before the production starts. This cuts back on time and money and is plainly good planning! My goal is gain such skills that the director gains all the information needed by looking at my story boards. This regars for instance lights, props, action, camera angles and moves.
